It was International Day of Street Children on 12th April so I thought I would share my thoughts on a book called Trash by Andy Mulligan and what I learnt from it about the lives of street children.
Three friends Rat, Gardo and Raphael live and work on a heap of trash with little food and few clothes. However one day they find a bag with a wallet inside belonging to a man called Jose Angelico. It is related to a mystery the police are trying desperately to solve. From that moment, the three best friends are chased by the police mercilessly away from their homes. The chasing wont stop until the trio can discover the deadly secret behind it all.
This book shows the life of street children all around the world especially in countries like Pakistan, India, Nepal and Phillipines. Street children can be so poor across the world that they cant afford many life essentials like water, food and clothes and end up living in horrible dumpsites and dilapidated street corners.
Books like this can also make those who have all these items today very grateful and privileged knowing that there are people like the characters in this story who would do anything to have what we have today. We should thank God for what we have and pray that those who dont have what we have may be as fortunate and blessed as we are today.
